Still busy... September came and went, it's nearly 2010 and I haven't really made much ground with it. Hopefully I'll return to it at some point.

So I've been really busy with other projects, but I have not abandoned this one! I will be looking at it again when September comes!

Times are busy at the moment so I've not had much chance to get in touch with the Sable Side, so to speak!

Here are a few lines denoting what I'm working on regarding this:

The main characters are pretty much named and set in stone.
I need to give them a bit of background, rather than leave them as just names.
The prologue is still in pre-draft form. In fact, I have written a bit for it, but I'm going to cast off half of it and rewrite that part on the account that I just rushed it from mid-way to the end - not a good way to go.

Picking at the Prologue

I'm currently working on the prologue. Some people say that prologues aren't needed, but this story I think needs a bit of background information before getting right into the meaty part of the story. Naturally, I've come a bit cropper with time (it's the time of the year when things start to get busy) so it's been slow going.

After working out my initial core characters I felt it was good to start to set the scene, somewhat innocuous. Let's just say two core characters meet for the first time, and you learn a bit more about one of them. There, I think I can reveal that much! Although, it's tricky not to fall into the pit of clichéd nonsense and romantic dribble - trust me, it's not romantic - but there's got to be some leeway.

I'll post a bit more about it when I get back to the story, in the meantime, please take a look at the Museum of the Weird and Withered for other musings!

Welcome to the home of The Sable Laudanum Society, a piece of fiction set in a dark pseudo-1920s universe. The occult is commonplace, science is mad and danger is all around.

This is where I will document the working process of writing the story and also where I will post each chapter of the story as it is finished - I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing it!

I won't reveal too much of how the story will go, so a plot summary will not be available, probably until the story is finished - well, the world is a secretive place, after all...
